where 5 is an album whose brilliance never ceases to amaze
I was looking for a Minutemen album and I found this as a bonus...so I cut both of them on a CD along with Al Green's Call Me and before I knew it I was ignoring Al and the Minutemen to listen to this! Imagine its a Sunday evening and you have only 3 DVDs you haven't watched - Iron Man, Robert Bresson's Money and Mackendrick's Ladykillers. Now all of them have their own appeal..Iron Man is straight, kiddish and entertaining, Money is a Robert Bresson movie!!! and Ladykillers is one of the greatest british comedies of all time (and the Tom Hanks version doesn't even come close). I tend to choose instant entertainment first - IRON MAN! - remember its Sunday and then we have the week coming up...and time is of the essence...
This is punk at its best...funny, sarcastic and cynical - fast, melodic and smart.
