Fantastic, Mr. Fox (2009)
Rating: 4.25/5.00
where 5 is my favorite Wes Anderson film
Why a fox? Why not a horse, or a beetle, or a bald eagle? I'm saying this more as, like, existentialism, you know? Who am I? And how can a fox ever be happy without, you'll forgive the expression, a chicken in its teeth?
Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach have written this! And I'm watching it now! After 1 FULL YEAR! And its a Roald Dahl adaptation! And its really, really good! George Clooney is there and so is Bill Murray! Meryl Streep...I despise here and she's there too!
Too many exclamation marks....but you're talking about Wes Anderson - Bottle Rocket, Rushmore & Noah Baumbach - Kicking and Screaming, Squid and the Whale. Now if these two are adapting a Dahl, then no point missing it. The best part is - you can look at it in two ways - story of a fox who gets his thrills out of stealing chicken, turkey and cider from farms pitted against three ruthless and mean farmers OR the story of an inner conflict that runs in all of us - the conflict between what we really are and what the world/our society/family wants us to be. But in the end - spirit wins! and that's what matters....
Imdb Link - because Jason Schwartz is there too!
