killing and maiming and regaining faith in the process...

From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
Rating: 2.50/5.00
where 5 is a Sin City
without Clive Owen

Robert Rodriguez has made two of my favorite movies (they definitely are in my all time top 100) - Sin City and Planet Terror...so when I realized that I had missed out on watching a Rodriguez film, I couldn't wait even for a day. I downloaded it at night and watched it next morning. Plot - psycho killer and thief brother rob and kill till they get to Mexico accompanied by hostages they've taken in to get past the border - a Priest who doesn't have faith (Harvey Kietel in a role he shouldn't have taken) and his son and daughter. In Mexico, they have to meet a fellow gangster in a strip club called Titty Twister (I mean what's with this name - it doesn't amuse me sir ji) and then there's a humongous amount of killing and maiming and killing and some vampires are involved and the girl says take me with you and the guy says no no no and the strip club is a huge mansion if you look from the back and people turn into vampires as and when the script allows. Its not even close to other Rodriguez movies - it has its moments and the 2.5 are for those moments - like the first 20 minutes are awesome and in between they say some witty things and Salma Hayek does a dance number and turns Quentin Tarantino into a vampire and other such stuff. Watch it to learn new ways to kill and maim or watch Hard Boiled

and yes..although I hate to say it 'coz I really like him - Clooney is too classy to play a lowly gangster...i might cross this out later :)
