There's not much that needs fixin' , I can't quit when I'm addicted

they have terrible record covers!
Sebadoh - Harmacy (1996)

Rating 5.0/5.0
where 5 is another eccentricity prone album

I heard a lot of music in between - Violent Femmes (they are decent), a collection of Indie rock singles (its been years since I listened to a mix tape) and some Cannonball Adderly (when you want to feel like a hero and you're not even close to being one then listen to Cannonball) but yesterday I again played Harmacy - it was like a reflex - couldn't stop myself.

This is Sebadoh's most accessible record. A record they should have made to make wads of money in the beginning of their career but they didn't and ended up being lesser known and coveted by a few (awesome people like me who really knew what they were upto because I have such a great taste in music!). Harmacy is a perect pop rock (isn't Indie either pop rock or punk rock, nearly, always, most of the time?) record with just the right pinch of Sebadoh's trademark idiosyncrasy. One more thing - these guys are obsessesed about lying and telling the truth, lying again, denying, faking, undenying...seriously...here's proof -
from Ocean
And I hesitate to say that you’re a liar
I never tell the truth myself
But I tried to chase you down and I got tired
So I’m leaving you to you or someone else
From On Fire
Now it feels like I’m on fire It’s burning the world through
But don’t hold it against me, ‘cuz I know you’re lying, too
From Can't Give up
All I ever wanted is just to know what's up
But when I try to fake it, I always fuck it up
Crocodile tears, six-packs of beer
Denying, undenying
But no one knows I'm here

Now that's kiddy kiddy and takes me back to the world where lying and telling the truth was as important as living or dying - if such a world ever existed. I'm going crazy and I like that.
