where 5 is one of the very few psychedelic era albums I can still standJust when you think that its time to listen to Coldplay and U2 - bands with limited talent and hence a worldwide following (I know U2 might be liked by a lot of people and its an old band but what the fuck have they done musically to deserve all that attention - college rockers like Achtung Baby and Joshua Tree?? - they suck big time compared to hundreds of bands that were completely ignored because U2 were there singing bloody dumb anthems and taking a dump on world peace). As my mom would put it - their planetary configurations have put Jupiter and Mars alongside the 5th ring of Saturn causing a cosmic miracle which demands stupendous airplay and amazing moolah. So, just as I was thinking of giving one more chance to Coldplay, I discovered Art Brut.
Art Brut is the kind of band I like, a sense of humor, songs with tunes, nice twangy guitars, measured and thought out energy and a promise that one day (if they remain together) they will definitely give us an outstanding album. I have to quote some of the lyrics (after a long time, this is a band which has done really well in the lyrics section instead of writing something absurd and hoping people will derive a meaning out of it) -
